Abstract:
Electro-dynamic tether de-orbit is important for mitigation of the abandoned spacecraft in LEO because of its efficiency and propellantless nature. This paper discusses the principle of electro-dynamic tether de-orbit and the design requirements and the hardware, as well as its control strategy and work procedure. In order to analysis the efficiency of the electro-dynamic tether de-orbit device, a simulation was carried out by using the tether dynamical equation and the results indicate that the area-time product is reduced greatly.
