Abstract: The reliability and the support of materials in spacecraft applications become more and more important along with the requirements of longer life and higher reliability of spacecraft. This paper reviews the application requirements and the test technology for space environment effects on materials, as well as the development of the space materials support technology. It is shown that to ensure long life and high reliability of spacecraft in orbit, the materials selection based on its performance and its space environment effects is most important.
