Abstract:
The effects of space debris impact on the surface properties of spacecraft materials are great. To investigate the interaction between the debris and the spacecraft materials, ground simulation tests of micro-debris impacted on optical quartz glass are carried out by the laser-driven flyer technology. In order to study the mechanism of the impact damage and the effect evaluation, tests of single impact and multiple impacts are carried out, respectively. The results show that there is a good correspondence between the high-speed flyer and the impact damage of the target glass; and the surface structural damages are caused by the impact of high-speed flyers, which would reduce the optical transmittance of the quartz glass.
