Abstract:
The effect of the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)irradiation on the mass loss ratio of domestic. made high. modulus carbon fibers is investigated by using the space combined radiation simulator. SEM, AFM alld XPS are used to characterize the surface morphology and the composition of the BHM3 HM carbon fiber before and aner VUV irradiation. It is shown that the mass loss ratio increases a little under the influence, lower than approximately 500 esh, and then tends to maimain a constant level, essentially wimout chaIlge in the surface morphology and composition of BHM3 HM carbon fiber. It implied that the domestic-made high-modulus carbon fiber has a good performance to resist VUV irradiation.
