Abstract:
The lunar dust simulant is often used in place of the real lunar dust in the simulation experiments about mechanical properties of the lunar dust. This paper discusses the preparation of the lunar dust simulant for the ground experiments in the Lunar Exploration Project. The working procedure consists of six parts: raw materials selecting, particle rough machining, particle fine machining, particle air classification, particle mixing and pre-preparation. studies of particle diameter, particle specific gravity, relative density, hole ratio, cohesion and frictional angle, which are shown to close to the representative foreign lunar dust stimulant, and could be used in the experiments of China’s Lunar Exploration Project.
