Abstract:
To study the space environmental effects on thermal control coatings, a scheme is proposed for flight experiments onboard manned spacecraft. During the test, the specimen is fixed on the exterior surface of the sealed cabin to be exposed to the space environment, which can be taken down and remounted by the astronaut without an EVA after the rendezvous and docking between the target vehicle and the spaceship. The scheme is to be implemented on China’s manned space missions. A successful recovery of the specimen can provide the first-hand data of the property degradation of thermal control coatings for China.
