Abstract:
To achieve the vertical access to a large sealed cabin during the spacecraft assembly process and in view of the large cabin’s structure and layout features, this paper discusses the structural characteristics of three kinds of equipment for vertical access, i.e. the lifting basket, the segmented combination ladder, and the motor-driven device. By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of three schemes, an analysis is made with regard to the features of the outside cabin assembly platform, the applicability to the assembly environment, and the security and the effect of vertical access to the cabin. This paper provides some guidance on the design and the evaluation of vertical access equipment for large spacecraft assembly.
