Abstract: The green illumination in a large long-life orbiting spacecraft can provide desirable and safe living and working environment for astronauts, and reduce the total energy consumption. This paper first reviews the green illumination design and the advantages of using LED light sources in the illumination equipment. Then the specifications and rules of illumination design for aerospace requirements are discussed. To meet higher and more complex requirements for future spacecraft on the illumination equipment, some suggestions about green illumination are made.
