Abstract:
Equatorial mapping is a main method for measuring and calculating the magnetic moment of satellites and their components. The test results are affected by many factors. This paper firstly introduced the basic principle of equatorial mapping (also called near-field analysis) method. The error sources of the process of measuring and calculating the magnetic moment were analyzed. Then, based on the standard magnetic block model, the influence of the magnetic eccentric distance of the standard block and the fluctuation of ambient magnetic field on the measurement error of the equatorial mapping method was studied. Meanwhile, a near and far-field gradient differential method was proposed to improve the accuracy of magnetic moment calculation. The improved method was used to measure and process the standard magnetic model. The results show that the measurement (calculation) error could be controlled within 3%.
