Abstract:
In order to quickly and effectively repair the surfaces of the microbially corroded materials in manned spacecraft modules, such as the space stations, a scheme of the in-situ repair device is proposed. The principal structure of the device, the simulation of the load level, and the verification of the principal prototype verification are presented. The preliminary application validation results show that: the device, with its capability of fast repair and convenient & safe operation, can be implemented for the fast coating repair of the material surface after the removal of the bacterial plaque. A good effect of safety is achieved with no UV leakage or ozone pollution, and the total volatile organic compounds do not exceed the maximum allowable concentration in the sealed cabin during the operation of the device. The application of this device is expected to enhance the ability of our manned spacecraft to prevent and control the microbial contamination and the corrosion in orbit.
