Abstract:
The global constellation for the thermosphere exploration based on pico- and nano-satellites is necessary for the high precision analysis of the atmospheric drag of the LEO spacecraft and for the study of the coupling mechanism of the thermosphere and the ionosphere. In this paper, the working principle of the thermosphere wind sensor based on the parallel-plate energy analyser for the static electrical field is discussed, and the method of deriving in-track and cross-track wind velocities is demonstrated. The design of the energy analyser is optimized by using the software COMSOL Multiphysics, and the energy resolution and the ion transmission are increased by factors of 2 and 2.5 respectively.
