Abstract: The ISO standard 21494 Space Systems - Magnetic Testing specifies the methods for implementing the magnetic test for spacecraft at the system-level, the subsystem-level or the unit-level. The release of this standard is of great significance for enhancing China's international influence and voice power in the field of space system environmental tests. This paper reviews the space-related ISO standards, and the background and the process of creating the ISO 21494: Space systems - Magnetic testing, focusing on the process and the experiences of incorporating the achievements of the space technology into the international standards in view of taking part in the development for drawing up other standards in future.
