Abstract:
This paper focuses on the effect of magnetic fields on some spacecraft internal components. It is shown that the magnetic shielding by soft magnetic materials could efficiently protect those components. The tests are carried out for six kinds of commonly used soft magnetic materials, focusing on their efficiency of shielding under quazi-zero magnetic field, constant magnetic field, and low-frequency magnetic test. Test results show that the magnetic permeability and coercive force of the material have a great effect on the shielding effectiveness, especially, the coercive force shows an obvious negative correlation with the shielding effectiveness. It is also shown that the shielding property of Fe-Ni alloy and Co-based amorphous materials are better than the other four tested materials:they show their outstanding effect in the frequency ranges below 1 kHz and above 50 kHz, respectively.
