Abstract:
In this paper, the horizontal falling of the fairing is simulated by the large-scale finite element software Abaqus with its CEL module. The influences of the aerodynamic load characteristics on the fairing separation are studied. Compared with the corresponding test, it is indicated that the calculated results are in good agreement with the measured results, and that the initial aerodynamic load because of the negative pressure seriously hinders the separation of the fairing, causing interference between the fairing and the payload. This simulation study provides a technical support for the ground test validation of future fairing separation research.
