Abstract: With the demands of higher power, longer life and higher reliability in space applications, the traditional slip-ring faces big challenges, which becomes one of the key problems in developing large-scale spacecraft. This paper discusses the principle and the excellent performance of the roll-ring, and its applications on the Space Station Freedom. Some foreign typical products and researches for the roll-rings are reviewed; some key investigations in the application of the roll-ring technology in China are suggested.
