Abstract:
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is widely applied in the aerospace field due to its excellent properties. In this paper, the tribological and deformation properties of PTFE(SFB-2, M-12, M-111 and 4FT-6), which are widely used in spacecraft, under the loads are tested. Friction and wear measurements indicate that the wear rates under 50 N of SFB-2, M-12, M-111 and 4FT-6 are 1.21×10
-4, 1.39×10
-4, 1.32×10
-4 and 1.19×10
-6 mm
3/(N·m). The deformation under 13.7 MPa of PTFE are 7.0%, 6.1%, 3.3% and 3.3% for SFB-2, M-12, M-111 and 4FT-6, respectively. The results show remarkable differences of friction and compressive creep properties between the PTFE of different trademarks.
